Bal-Vihar program is an initiative by the Hindu Temple of Iowa located midway between Ames and Des Moines in Madrid, IA. The program is run by volunteers who care about preserving Indian culture and believe in moral values that are important to living a fulfilling, generous and positive life.
Here are a few names of volunteers who put efforts into programming, organizing and managing the Bala-Vihar classes and events.
Dr. Palakurthy is a well known Cardiologist in Des Moines, IA. Despite his busy schedule, he finds time to teach kids with moral stories in Bala-Vihar. Dr. Palakurthy and his wife Dr. Uma organize and volunteer in many activities at the temple. They have 3 highly educated and successful kids settled at various places around the USA. Both Dr. Prasad and Dr. Uma live in West Des Moines, IA.
Sanjay is an Executive Vice-President at a pharmaceutical repackaging company in Urbandale, IA. Sanjay and his wife Vandana have 2 girls. Both girls go to the Bala-Vihar program. Sanjay started volunteering for the program after realizing the importance of raising kids with moral values especially in this country . Sanjay and his family live in Johnston, IA.
Praveena is a home maker with vast teaching background. She and her husband Chander have 2 girls. Both their girls go to the Bala-Vihar program. Praveena was invited by Dr. Palakurthy to teach kids stories and songs after seeing her manage kids effectively at an event. Praveena and her family live in Johnston, IA.
Pradeep is a Software Engineer working for an Insurance Company in Urbandale. Pradeep and his wife Deepika have a boy and a girl. Pradeep and his family live in Urbandale, IA.

Manish is the Chief Architect at a financial software company, in Johnston, IA - an electronic payment processing network driving ATMs and POS terminals and authorizing debit card transactions for over 1500 community banks and credit unions throughout the USA. Manish and his wife, Shriti value the importance of a good education consisting not only of academics but social manners, a respect for elders blended with a generous helping of sound morals, values and principles that lead to a balanced life. They have 2 girls and live in Johnston, IA.
Nupoor holds an M.Sc. degree in Mathematics from India. She moved to the USA with her husband in 2010. Nupoor lives in Ames, IA with her family. Her husband is a post-doctoral fellow at the ISU and they have a 3 year old daughter Sanhwi.
