1) Bala-Vihar Classes for kids in Grade 4th & below (held between 11am and noon every Sunday)

2) Pre-SAT Math Classes for kids in Grade 5th & 6th (held between 11am and noon every Sunday)

3) SAT Math Classes for kids in Grade 7th & above (held between 11am and noon every Sunday)

 

All these classes are held for 28 weeks between end of August and 2nd last Sunday of May.

 

We have made tremendous improvements in these classes as follows. Please bring your child to the temple any Sunday at 11 am to register. All classes are run by volunteers who are accomplished and committed to seeing the kids succeed with good morals and good academics.

 

1) Bala-Vihar Classes - Moral lessons, Shokas, Vocal music, Stories about Gods, Stories about Indian Culture, overall moral development.

 

2) Pre-SAT and SAT Math Classes: We have added new teachers and a well-defined schedule. Here is a quick comparision with a commercial Math class.
  

 

 

 
Here are the details of SAT Math Program at the Temple (Pre-SAT follows almost the similar syllabus). The allocation of 28 weeks are as follows (reserved a few weeks for exams, clarifications & repetitions). The goal is for students to understand the fundamentals of math.

1. On each of the SAT classes, half an hour will be spent initially by the instructor to teach the main concepts of the chapter and to solve some typical problems.
2. Three to four problems will be given on the chapter taught for the kids to solve in the class to get a feel as to whether the students understood the chapter.

3. Quizes will be given every 4 weeks of teaching to freeze the concepts.
4. Students will be given homework of about 10 problems to solve at home and the answers can be e–mailed back to the instructor. If kid doesn’t have access to computer/internet it can be submitted in the following class. Based on the confidential evaluation of kids home work, additional homework will be given to make sure kids catch up with other kids.
5. To ensure that kids needing more help can get additional help, the  Instructor will be available for half an hour before class i.e. from 10:30 to 11:00 and for half an hour after class from 12:00 to 12:30. Kids who did not understand a particular problem or chapter can get extra help from the instructor during that time without being conscious of how other kids think of them. 
6. For kids who attended the Bala vihar class in prior years and solved some of the problems from the course book will be provided with problems appropriate for their level.
7. Parents are requested to make sure that the kids completed their homework and drop or bring the kids to the program on time for all classes so that the program delivers value.  
8. More detailed course content including the specific dates on which each of the chapters will be taught is being developed and will be provided.
